The following five lesson plans cover many aspects of the veterinary profession and provide hands-on learning for elementary school students in Grades 2-5. This manual comes with a CD of all corresponding handouts so you can print enough for any number of students you are speaking to, and can be use again for future presentations. Some areas of focus include: demonstrations on administering a general Pet exam and what it’s like being a veterinarian; preventive healthcare and mini-lessons on various parts of the Pet’s body; how to prepare for a career in veterinary medicine; the comparison between physicians and veterinarians; and using the anatomical models to “look inside your Pet.”
